This beautiful sculpture features Dick Seaman at the wheel of the Mercedes-Benz W154 silver arrows in which he won the German Grand Prix at Nurburgring in 1938.
The sculpture by Louis Wiltshire shows the young British driver in a power slide through a corner of the gruelling German circuit. From which ever angle you look at this piece, one gets the distinct feeling of speed, a great accomplishment by this talented artist. Dick Seaman was tragically killed in the Silver arrows in 1939 following a fiery crash in rainy conditions at the Belgium Grand Prix at Spa. Hermann Lang who won this race in a sister car later wrote "I will always remember him, he was kind-hearted, cool and fair as a sportsman, just as I had pictured Englishmen to be."
