The Vincent "Black Shadow" was one of the most spectacular motorcycles of the fifties. The motorcycles produced by Philip Vincent were anything but conventional: "Flaming apparitions" with many new features, such as the telescopic front fork. Incredibly fast, of robust design and easy to maintain with minimal tooling requirements, they were frequently referred to as "the Beasts". The top model of 1952, the Black Shadow, was widely regarded as the best Vincent ever. A unique 1000 cc V-engine designed as an integral part of the frame gave this fantastic machine a speed of over 195 km/h. Total weight 206 kg. There are few motorcycle types these days that can compete with this veteran when it comes to speed, weight, handling and compactness. |
