Concorde

Concorde is undisputedly the world's most evocative airliner.

Concorde is a unique aeroplane that still turns heads after 27 years of public supersonic service. The British Airways and Air France Concorde fleets have flown millions of miles carrying hundreds of thousands of people across the Atlantic at twice the speed of sound.

Admired and loved by almost everyone, there is only one aircraft that retires still ahead of its time, and that is Concorde.

Concorde's Last Flight on the 24th of October 2003 was marked as an historic day in aviation as Concorde retired from commercial service. Three Concorde’s landed in close formation at London Heathrow airport.

The first flight landed from Edinburgh followed immediately by the arrival of a ‘supersonic round the bay’ flight that had left Heathrow an hour and 45 minutes earlier. The final flight was British Airways flight BA002 from New York JFK airport, the last ever supersonic passenger flight across the Atlantic.

On board were an array of stars and celebrities including Joan Collins, Sir David Frost and media figures such as Jeremy Clarkson and Piers Morgan.

The three planes G BOAG, G BOAE and G BOAF came to rest next to Concorde G BOAC at the British Airways maintenance hangars at London’s Heathrow Airport bringing to an end,

The Concorde Era. The following four weeks saw the five airworthy Concorde’s fly for the final time to their respective resting places.
